Amazon to inaugurate first fresh grocery store in Los Angeles

Mubasher: Amazon will open its first Fresh grocery store in Los Angeles’ Woodland Hills neighbourhood in the upcoming period, as the e-commerce company seeks to develop its offline portfolio, CNBC reported.

Amazon's grocery store in Los Angeles is part of the company's new chain of grocery stores which will be found in seven locations across Southern California and greater Chicago.

The store will be opened for only invited customers from the local area this week, and to the broader public in the upcoming weeks.

Consumers will experience a blend of in-store and online shopping in the new chain whose prices will be lower than its organic goods store Whole Foods, acquired by Amazon for $13.7 billion in 2017.

The 35,000-square-foot store will include supermarket staples such as Coca-Cola drinks, products from Whole Foods’ cheaper private-label brand, 365, Amazon’s own brands, and fresh-branded food products.

Adding high-tech features, the Fresh store will be the first with Amazon's recently launched Dash Cart, a new smart shopping cart that allows customers to avoid the checkout line.
